Need an all in one floor cleaner? Try a vacuum cleaner with steam cleaning for amazing results.

Okay, so I finally got my hands on one of those vacuum cleaners that also does steam cleaning. My old vacuum was fine, but the floors, especially the kitchen tiles, just never felt truly clean, you know? Always felt like I needed to mop right after vacuuming anyway, which was just double the work. I figured combining the two might save some hassle.

Unboxing and First Impressions

Getting it out of the box was straightforward. It felt a bit heavier than my old vacuum, which made sense given the extra steam bits inside. Assembly was mostly clicking parts together, didn't even really need the manual much for that part. Filled up the little water tank for the steam function first, just used regular tap water like it said. The dirt container looked decent enough size.

Trying the Vacuum First

So, I started just using it as a regular vacuum on the living room rug and the hardwood floors.

  • Suction seemed okay. It picked up the usual dust bunnies and crumbs without much fuss.
  • Maneuverability was decent, maybe a little clunkier than a dedicated vacuum because of the added weight and bulk for the steam parts.
  • Had to empty the dirt bin after doing the main floor, it filled up quicker than I expected, maybe the old vacuum wasn't doing such a great job after all.

Switching to Steam Mode

Alright, time for the steam part. I made sure the vacuum part was off, attached the special microfiber pad to the bottom head. There's a button or trigger you press for the steam. It took a minute or two to heat up – you could kind of hear it gurgling a bit. I was a little nervous about using steam on the hardwood at first, but the instructions said it was okay for sealed floors, which mine are. Started in an inconspicuous corner just in case.

The Actual Steam Cleaning

Using the steam felt… different. You move slower than regular vacuuming, letting the steam do its thing.

On the tiles: This is where I saw the biggest difference. Grimy spots in the kitchen that usually need scrubbing came up much easier. The steam just seemed to loosen everything up. The floor felt really clean underfoot afterwards, not sticky or anything.

On the hardwood: It worked fine here too. Didn't leave the floor soaking wet, just slightly damp, and it dried super fast, maybe within a minute or two. It definitely looked cleaner than just vacuuming alone. I wouldn't say it deep cleaned the wood grain, but for surface dirt and that feeling of sanitizing, it was good.

Things I noticed: You have to keep the water tank topped up if you're doing a large area. The microfiber pad got dirty pretty quick, especially on the kitchen floor. Good thing it came with a spare so I could swap it out halfway through.

Afterwards - Cleanup

Cleanup wasn't too bad. Emptied the dirt bin again (which was surprisingly dusty even after just steaming). Rinsed the dirty microfiber pads under the tap and threw them in the wash. Had to let the machine cool down completely before putting it away.

So, Was It Worth It?

Yeah, I think so. It's not perfect. It's heavier, and you have to move slower when steaming. But for getting the hard floors truly clean without scrubbing on my hands and knees or using harsh chemicals, it's a definite improvement. It really combines two chores pretty effectively. Still need my old vacuum for quick pickups maybe, but for the main weekly clean, this thing does the job well. Saves me the step of mopping separately, which is the main win for me.
