Which cordless vacuum steamer cleans floors best? Comparing popular models to help you decide quickly.

Okay, so I decided to try out one of those cordless vacuum steamers. Been seeing them around, thought I'd give it a shot myself and see what the fuss was about.

Getting Started

Got the box delivered. Pretty standard stuff, opened it up right away. Inside were the main body, the handle, a couple of cleaning pads, the charging base, and the usual little brush for cleaning bits out. Didn't feel super heavy, which was a good start.

Putting it together was mostly clicking things into place. The handle snapped onto the main body. Had to figure out where the water tank went, but it slid in pretty easily. Same for the dirty water tank. The pads just stick onto the bottom. Took maybe five minutes, no tools needed, which I always appreciate. Didn't even look at the instructions much, just glanced at the pictures.

First Run - Charging and Testing

First thing, plugged in the charging base and set the machine on it. Lights came on, indicating it was charging. Left it there for a few hours like the little leaflet suggested, went and did something else. Came back later, lights showed it was full.

Time to actually use it. Filled the clean water tank first. Just regular tap water, nothing fancy. Popped it back in. Decided to try the vacuum function on its own initially. Turned it on – it wasn't crazy loud, which was nice. Rolled it over the kitchen floor, picked up crumbs and dust okay. Maneuvering wasn't bad, it swivels easily enough around chair legs and stuff.

Okay, now for the steam part. Hit the steam button. Took maybe 30 seconds, maybe a minute, before I could feel the pad getting hot and see a little steam coming out. Went over a spot where something had dried onto the tile. Had to go over it a couple of times slowly, but it did lift the gunk off. The floor felt slightly damp afterwards, but it dried super quick, within a minute or two.

Vacuum and Steam Together

Next, I tried the combined vacuum and steam mode. This is what I was really curious about. Went over the main living area, which has hard floors. It seemed to suck up the surface dust while steaming at the same time. It definitely felt more efficient than vacuuming and then mopping separately. Covered the whole area pretty fast.

  • It picked up small debris while washing.
  • Saved time compared to doing two separate jobs.
  • The floor looked cleaner and felt fresher.

After Use - Cleanup Duty

Once I was done, time for the less fun part. Turned it off. Popped out the dirty water tank. Yeah, that water was gross, which I guess means it worked! Poured it down the toilet. Rinsed the tank out in the sink. It wasn't too complicated, just a bit unpleasant seeing all the muck.

Then, pulled off the dirty pad. Tossed it straight into the washing machine with some towels. The dirt bin for the dry vacuumed stuff also needed emptying. Just clicked it open over the trash can, most of it fell out. Had to use the little brush tool they included to get some dust bunnies out of the corners.

Battery Life and Final Thoughts

How long did the battery last? I managed to do the kitchen, living room, and hallway before the battery died on me. Probably about 20-25 minutes of continuous use, mixing vacuuming and steaming. For my place, that's just about enough to do the main hard floor areas if I move reasonably quickly. If you have a bigger house, you might need to recharge partway through.

So, overall? It's pretty handy. Combining the vacuum and steam definitely saves a step. It's not perfect – the battery could last longer, and cleaning the dirty tank is never fun. But for quick cleanups and maintaining the hard floors, it does the job without needing two different machines or being tied to a cord. It actually got used, which is more than I can say for some gadgets I've bought. It does what it says on the tin, basically. Makes cleaning a bit less of a chore. Yeah, not bad. Happy I got it to simplify things a bit.
