My Go With the Jet Wash Machine Today

Alright, so the driveway was looking absolutely grim. We're talking layers of dirt, some green slimy stuff growing in the corners, the works. Just embarrassing, really. I'd been putting it off, but today I thought, right, let's get that jet wash machine out and actually use it.

First job, dragging the thing out of the garage. It's not super heavy, but awkward. Then came the usual faff: finding the hose connector that actually fits the outdoor tap, untangling the power cable which always seems to tie itself in knots overnight. Hooked up the water hose to the machine, then plugged the electric in. Simple enough, but always takes a few minutes longer than you think.

I picked the nozzle attachment that looked like it would blast dirt well but not strip paint off the neighbor's cat. You know, the fan-shaped spray one. Turned the tap on, heard the water fill the hose. Took a hold of the spray gun thingy – the lance, I guess it's called.

Okay, time to get started.

Flicked the power switch on the machine. It jumped to life with a loud hum. Pointed the nozzle down at the dirtiest patch of concrete and squeezed the trigger. Whoosh! The power behind it is pretty decent. You see the water hit, and the dirt just lifts off. It’s actually quite fun to watch, carving clean lines through the muck.

  • Started at one end of the driveway.
  • Moved the spray side to side, slowly walking backwards.
  • Had to get a bit closer on the really stubborn patches, especially that green algae stuff.
  • Definitely got my shoes wet. Note to self: wear boots next time.
  • The noise isn't quiet, you wouldn't want to do it super early morning.

Took me maybe forty-five minutes to do the whole stretch? Maybe an hour. You get into a rhythm with it. Sweep away the dirt, watch the clean surface appear. You do have to be a bit careful not to stay in one spot too long, especially on softer stone, seems like you could damage it if you weren't paying attention.

End Result

Stood back and had a look. Big difference. Seriously, it looks so much better. Not perfect, maybe, there are still some faint marks, but compared to before? Night and day. It was worth the effort and getting a bit splashed.

Packed it all away then. Coiled the hose, wound the cable, put the nozzles back in their little holder. Pushed it back into the garage. Job done. Felt pretty good, actually. Satisfying work, that was.
