Alright, let me tell you about my little adventure with this high pressure pump sprayer thing. My garden path was looking real sad, covered in green stuff and dirt that just wouldn't hose off. Tried scrubbing, but my back wasn't happy about that. So, I thought, maybe I need something with a bit more oomph.

Getting it Ready

I ended up getting one of these pump sprayers, supposed to be high pressure. Looked simple enough when I took it out of the box. Just a tank, a hose, a wand, and the pump handle.

• First thing, screwed the hose onto the tank. Easy peasy.
• Then attached the wand to the other end of the hose. Clicked right in.
• Checked the nozzle, seemed okay.

Filling it was the next step. I decided to try just water first, see how this pressure thing actually felt. Unscrewed the top pump part, poured water in using a funnel – definitely use a funnel, trust me. Didn't want to spill it everywhere. Filled it maybe three-quarters full, didn't want it too heavy.

Pumping and Spraying Time

Screwed the pump back on, nice and tight. Then the pumping started. You gotta lift the handle and push it down, again and again. You can feel the resistance building up, that's the pressure. I gave it a good number of pumps, maybe 20 or 30? Didn't count exactly, just pumped until it felt pretty firm.

Carried it over to the path. It wasn't super light with the water in it, but manageable. Pointed the nozzle down at the grimy paving stones, squeezed the trigger on the wand and... WHOOSH!

Okay, maybe not a massive WHOOSH like a power washer, but definitely way stronger than my garden hose nozzle. It blasted off the surface layer of green algae quite nicely. You have to get pretty close for the stubborn bits. I walked along the path, pumping it a few more times whenever the spray started to weaken. It's a bit of a workout, pumping, carrying, spraying.

Covered the whole path section by section. It wasn't super fast, but it was doing the job. I could see the difference right away. The stone underneath was actually visible again!

What I Reckon

So, did it work? Yeah, it did. It cleaned the path better than just the hose. It's not magic, mind you. For really baked-on grime, you might still need a stiff brush or something stronger. But for general algae and built-up dirt, it made a noticeable difference.

The main thing is the pumping. You gotta keep the pressure up, so it's not like you just switch it on and forget it. Constant pumping is part of the deal. And it's definitely more effort than just using a hose.

Overall, I'm pretty pleased. It's a good middle ground if you don't want to splash out on a proper electric pressure washer but need more power than a standard sprayer. Good for smaller jobs like paths, maybe cleaning garden furniture or spot-treating weeds if you put weedkiller in it (carefully, obviously). It did what I needed it to do, even if my arm felt it the next day.
