Maintaining your circular power washer? Simple care advice inside.

Okay, so I finally got around to tackling the patio this weekend. It was looking pretty grim, honestly – years of dirt, some green stuff growing in the corners, the usual mess. I'd heard about these circular cleaner attachments for power washers, figured I'd give one a shot instead of just blasting away with the regular nozzle like I usually do.
Getting Started
First things first, I hauled out my old power washer from the shed. Had to wrestle with the hose a bit, always a fun start. Then I unboxed the circular attachment thingy. Looked simple enough, like a big plastic frisbee with brushes around the edge and the spinning spray bar underneath. I just clicked it onto the end of the power washer wand where the normal nozzle goes. Easy peasy. Connected the main hose to the tap, plugged the washer in, and turned the water on. Ready to roll.
The Actual Cleaning Part
Alright, moment of truth. I squeezed the trigger on the power washer, and the attachment whirred to life. It sort of hovers just above the ground, which was kinda neat. I started at one corner of the patio and just began walking slowly, guiding the circular head back and forth like I was vacuuming a rug.
Here’s basically what I did:
- Pulled the trigger to get the water spinning inside the head.
- Placed it flat on the patio surface.
- Walked slowly, overlapping each pass slightly.
- Tried to keep it moving at a steady pace.
It definitely contained the spray much better than the standard wand. No more blasting mud and gunk all over the place, onto the walls, onto my boots... well, less anyway. It felt a bit weird at first, just pushing this disk around, but you quickly get the hang of it. It covered ground way faster than just using a narrow jet nozzle, that's for sure. On the really stubborn spots, I had to slow down a bit or go over them a couple of times.
How It Turned Out
After maybe an hour or so, I had the whole patio done. Stepped back to have a look. Wow, big difference. The concrete slabs looked almost new again. It got rid of all the green slime and most of the ground-in dirt. There were still a few super tough stains, but overall, the result was much more even than when I just use the wand. No zebra stripes this time!
Clean-up was simple too. Just disconnected the attachment, gave it a quick rinse, and put everything away. Way less mess during the job and a pretty satisfying result. Definitely made cleaning that large flat area a lot less tedious. I reckon I'll be using this thing for the driveway next.
