Okay, so the house was looking pretty rough, you know? Like, really grimy. Green stuff growing on the north side, dirt splattered up near the foundation, the whole nine yards. Just looked tired. I kept looking at it, thinking, man, this needs sorting.

First thought, maybe I could rent one of those pressure washer things? But then I remembered my neighbor trying that last year. Sounded like a jet engine, water went everywhere, and he still missed spots. Plus, honestly, I didn't fancy spending my Saturday getting soaked and wrestling with a hose.

Decided to Find Someone Local

So, I figured, let's find someone to do it. Pulled out my phone, just typed in something simple like "power wash house near me". Didn't want some big company from miles away, just a local outfit.

Got a few names, made a couple of calls. One guy sounded like he was half asleep, another wanted a fortune. Then I talked to this one fella, sounded straightforward, gave me a decent price over the phone based on the house size. Said he could squeeze me in later that week. Good enough for me.

The Actual Washing Day

Sure enough, Thursday rolls around, and this truck pulls up. Two guys jumped out. They got this big machine off the trailer, hooked up to my outdoor faucet, unrolled these long hoses. Didn't waste any time.

Man, that thing was loud when they fired it up! But wow, you could see the difference right away. They started on the vinyl siding, and it was like watching a magic trick. Years of dirt just peeling off.

  • They worked their way around the whole house.
  • Got the gutters looking white again, mostly.
  • Did the front porch concrete too, which I hadn't even thought much about, but it looked way better after.

I kinda just watched from the window for a bit. They were pretty careful around the windows and doors, which was good. Sprayed some kinda soap stuff on first for the really bad spots, let it sit, then blasted it off. Took 'em maybe two, three hours total?

End Result? Pretty Good!

When they finished up and rolled out, I went outside. Big difference. The house just looked brighter, cleaner. Like it could breathe again. Siding looked almost new. Even the air smelled cleaner, probably just my imagination, but still.

Yeah, hiring someone was the right call. Way easier than messing with it myself. House looks sharp again. Feels good just pulling into the driveway now. Worth doing, for sure.
