My Go with Karcher Power Washer Soap

Alright, so I finally decided to give the actual Karcher power washer soap a try. Had my trusty Karcher washer sitting there, and the patio was looking pretty grimy after winter. Figured I'd see if their own brand stuff made any difference.

First thing, I grabbed the bottle of soap. My washer has one of those onboard tanks, which is pretty handy. Unscrewed the cap on the soap bottle – it was sealed, had to peel that off. Then I just poured the soap directly into the tank compartment on the washer. Didn't seem like I needed to mix it with water first, the instructions looked like you just pour it straight in for my model. Checked the connection, made sure the detergent intake hose was properly seated in the tank.

Next up, I hooked up the water hose and the power cord, turned the water supply on. I switched the nozzle on the wand to the low-pressure or "mix" setting. This is important, 'cause the high-pressure settings usually don't pull the soap through, at least on my machine.

Time to wash! I squeezed the trigger, and after a second or two, foamy soap started spraying out. It wasn't like super thick shaving cream foam, more like a good soapy layer. I worked my way across the patio stones, applying an even coat. Covered the whole area I wanted to clean. The instructions usually say to let it sit for a few minutes, so I did that. Just let the soap dwell on the surface, trying to break down the dirt and algae spots. Didn't let it dry out, though, just kept an eye on it for maybe 5 minutes.

Then, I switched the nozzle over to a higher pressure setting. Started from one end and began rinsing the soap off thoroughly. You could really see the dirt lifting off as I sprayed. Made sure to overlap my passes so I didn't leave any soapy spots or streaks behind. Took a little while to rinse everything completely.

  • Got the soap poured into the tank.
  • Switched the washer nozzle to the soap setting.
  • Sprayed the patio, let the soap sit a bit.
  • Switched to high pressure and rinsed it all off.

The end result? Honestly, pretty good. The patio looked much brighter, and most of the green stuff was gone. It definitely seemed to help lift the grime more than just using water alone. It wasn't some magic potion, some really stubborn spots needed a bit more attention, but overall, the Karcher soap did its job. Clean-up was easy too, just rinsed the soap tank with some clean water.

So yeah, my experience using the Karcher power washer soap was straightforward. Poured it in, sprayed it on, let it sit, rinsed it off. It worked as expected. Probably use it again next time I do a big clean.
