Went crawling through garage forums deep into the night. Saw folks swearing by these chemical cleaner setups. Figured might as well try instead of shelling 2 grand for a new filter. Battle Time in the Driveway

Dragged everything out Saturday morning. Coffee in hand, optimism high. Step one said "locate DPF access port". Yeah right. Took me 45 minutes under the truck scratching my head. Finally spotted the cursed metal plug covered in road gunk. Needed three extensions to reach it.

Got the cleaner machine filled with that chemical stuff - smelled like death mixed with burnt candy. Hooked the hoses up wrong twice. Sprayed purple goo on my pants. Perfect start. Finally got pressure building in the pump bucket. Let it rip.

First five minutes? Nothing. Just gurgling sounds. Thought I broke it already. Then suddenly... this black sludge started leaking out the other end. Looked like demonic motor oil. Kept that pump chugging for the full 30 minutes like the shaky instructions said. Had purple splatters everywhere but felt like progress.

The Nervous Wait

Had to let it "soak" for another hour. Spent the time scrubbing purple spots off concrete. Went back under the truck, rinsed the filter out with their special hose attachment. Water ran gray at first, turned almost clean eventually. Reassembled everything praying.

Turned the key. That damn light was still ON. Cue internal screaming. Gave it five minutes idling and BAM - light blinked twice and died. Silence. Blessed silence. Did a victory lap around the block just to feel the exhaust flowing smooth.

Moral? These cleaner machines work but they’re messy as hell. Wear your nastiest clothes. Still cheaper than the dealership’s "you need a whole new exhaust system" song and dance. If I can handle this purple mess, anybody can.
