Typed "buy AAA pressure washer" into the search bar expecting smooth sailing. First page shows me triple-A batteries and actual car washers. Huh? Scrolled past five car washes sponsored listings before realizing my mistake - apparently 'AAA' ain't the brand name, it's the PSI rating everyone talks about! Felt like an idiot clicking on car wash nozzles at 8 AM.

Price Tag Shock

Finally found the real deal - those commercial-grade monsters. Jaw hit the floor seeing prices starting at six hundred bucks. Clicked three different "BIG SUMMER SALE" banners screaming discounts, only to find shipping costs that'd buy me a decent steak dinner. One site showed $50 off... then slapped a $75 "handling fee" at checkout. Yeah right.

Dodging Scams & Spam

Got distracted by this crazy cheap listing: "Professional AAA Washer - Only $199!" Opened the product page... and it looked sketchy like a 2005 GeoCities site. Red flags everywhere:

• Stock photos looking like they'd been copied from 10 different sites
• "Limited time offer" timer stuck at 00:00 for hours
• Zero contact info besides some generic "support@..." email

Closed that tab fast enough to give myself carpal tunnel.

The "Deals" Aren't Really Deals

Checked every major home improvement site I knew. Same dance everywhere:

1. See shiny "CLEARANCE" tag next to a washer
2. Click excitedly
3. Realize it's either refurbished without warranty
4. Or requires buying $200 worth of accessories
5. Or ships only to Alaska for some weird reason

Got so desperate I started checking obscure marketplace apps. Found a "like new" model at half price... turns out it was missing half its parts. Seller called it "custom modular design." Yeah no thanks.

What Actually Worked (Kinda)

Finally caved and checked physical store inventory at midnight. Drove 40 miles next morning to grab the last medium-duty unit left in town. Paid full price after the manager laughed at me asking for discounts. Got home, unboxed it... and discovered it didn't include the freaking hose connector piece everyone takes for granted. Made me miss the damn car wash listings from earlier. At least they'd have come with water hookups.

So yeah, 'great deals online now' my rear end. Wasted three evenings, developed permanent eye squint from screen glare, and ended up paying brick-and-mortar prices anyway. Next time that washer dies? I'll just use a toothbrush and call it exercise.
