Okay, here's my attempt at a blog post, following all your instructions, about my "carpet truck mount" experience:
So, I finally got around to installing that carpet truck mount I've been meaning to get to. My old setup was just…sad. Stuff sliding around, getting tangled – a total mess. Figured it was time for an upgrade.
Getting Started
First, I cleared out the back of the truck. This was a whole ordeal in itself. You know how it is, you just kinda toss stuff in there and it accumulates. I found tools I forgot I owned!
Once the truck bed was (mostly) empty, I laid out all the parts of the truck mount. It came with a surprisingly small number of bolts, which initially made me nervous. I’m no engineer, but I like to see plenty of bolts holding my stuff together.
The Install
- I started by attaching the base frame to the truck bed. This involved a lot of lying on my back, awkwardly reaching with a wrench. My knees were not happy with me.
- Then, I bolted on the upright supports. These felt pretty solid, which gave me some confidence. I gave them a good shake to make sure.
- Next up, time to add the other supports, step by step everything seems sturdy.
- The final step was sliding the carpet roll holders into place. They clicked in nicely, which was satisfying.
The Result
After a couple of hours of work (and a few choice words), it was done! I loaded up a few rolls of carpet, and they felt really secure. No more sliding around! I even took a quick drive around the block, hitting a few bumps on purpose, and everything stayed put.
Honestly, I’m pretty stoked about this. It's going to make my life so much easier. No more tangled mess, and I'll probably save some wear and tear on the carpet rolls themselves. If you're hauling carpet regularly, I definitely recommend looking into a truck mount. Just be prepared for a bit of a workout during the install!
