Alright, let's talk about getting the carpets done with the truck mount unit today. It’s always a bit of a process, but you just gotta get stuck in, right?

Setting Up the Beast

First thing this morning, I pulled up and got the truck positioned just right. You learn pretty quick that where you park makes a difference for hose runs. Popped open the side doors, and there she was. Big ol' machine ready to go.

I started by pulling out the main vacuum hose and the solution line. Always try to lay them out neat, avoid kinks, makes the job smoother. Ran 'em through the door protector, don't want to scuff up the customer's entryway. Hooked up the water supply – thankfully, their outdoor tap had decent pressure today. Sometimes you fight with those things.

Checked the solution tanks, made sure my cleaning mix was good to go. Gave the engine a quick once-over, belts looked okay, oil was fine. Turned the key, and that engine roared to life. Gotta love that sound, means business.

Getting Down to Cleaning

Inside, I grabbed the wand. Started in the furthest corner, always work your way back towards the door. You learn that the hard way if you don't! Started making passes with the wand. Slow and steady. You can really feel the heat and the power coming through.

It’s pretty amazing watching the transformation happen right before your eyes. The dirty water getting sucked up through the sight glass on the wand... yeah, that never gets old. Shows you're actually pulling the gunk out.

  • The machine ran smooth today, no hiccups.
  • Suction felt really strong, pulling deep.
  • Found a couple of mystery spots, treated 'em first, then went over with the wand. Most came right up.
  • Had to move some light furniture around, always part of the job.

Worked room by room. Living room, then the hallway, finished up in the two bedrooms. Just kept that rhythm going: spray, scrub with the wand passes, extract. Push, pull. Repeat.

The Wrap-Up

Once the last bit of carpet was done, I started the pack-up. Turned off the solution pump first, then ran straight vacuum for a minute to suck all the water out of the lines. Don't want that stuff sitting in there.

Walked back through the house, checked everything over. Carpets looked damp, obviously, but clean. Definitely a huge improvement. Happy with the results.

Then it was back outside to the truck. Shut down the main engine. Started reeling in the hoses. This part’s always a workout, especially rolling up that heavy vacuum hose. Got everything stowed back in the truck, secured nice and tight. Disconnected the water, packed up the door guard.

Another job done. The truck mount is heavy gear, takes effort to set up and pack away, no doubt about it. But for getting carpets really clean, deep down? It’s hard to beat the power you get from one of these rigs. Definitely worth the sweat.
