Alright, let me share what I did with this jet attachment for my pressure washer the other day. I'd been eyeing one for a while, mainly because the drainpipe from the patio gets clogged with leaves and gunk every single fall, and frankly, snaking it is a real pain.

Getting it Ready

So, I finally got one. Pulled it out of the package. It was basically a long, thin hose, more flexible than the main pressure washer hose, with a special metal nozzle on the tip. This nozzle had a few holes pointing backward and one pointing forward. Seemed simple enough.

First step was connecting it. I just unscrewed the regular wand from my pressure washer gun and screwed this jetter hose on instead. Fit perfectly, no leaks right off the bat. Good start.

The First Run - Tackling the Drain

I took it over to the troublesome patio drain. I fed the nozzle end maybe a foot or so into the pipe before starting anything. Big tip here: don't just point it straight in and pull the trigger, you'll get soaked. Ease it in first.

Okay, squeezed the trigger on the pressure washer. You could immediately feel the hose wanting to pull itself deeper into the pipe because of those backward-facing jets. That was pretty cool. I just sort of guided it, letting it feed itself down the line. I worked it back and forth a few times in the really stuck sections I could feel.

• Worked it back and forth in tight spots.

After maybe 5 minutes of this, pushing it until it felt like it hit the end of the pipe run and pulling it back slowly, I turned off the washer. Pulled the hose out. A bunch of nasty black sludge and old leaves came out with the water flow.

Did it Work?

Heck yeah, it worked. I grabbed the garden hose and ran water down the drain for a test. Flowed straight through, no backup at all. Way faster and honestly less messy than using the drain snake I usually fight with. The pressure washer jet just blasted everything clear.

I also tried it quickly on some stubborn green mildew on the concrete near the drain. While the forward jet isn't really designed for wide surface cleaning like a fan nozzle, it did blast away the concentrated grime pretty effectively in a line. But yeah, its main job is definitely pipes.

Things I Noticed

It uses quite a bit of water, obviously, because the pressure washer is running constantly. Also, while it pulls itself in, you still need to manage the hose so it doesn't kink up behind you. And wear eye protection, always. Water and gunk can spray back, especially when you're starting or pulling the hose out.

Overall, for clearing out drains like gutters, downspouts, or patio drains, this jet attachment thing is brilliant. Made a job I really dislike much, much easier. Didn't need any chemicals, just the water pressure doing its thing. Definitely keeping this handy.
