My Go with the High Pressure Cleaning Gun

Alright, so I finally got my hands on one of those high pressure cleaning guns. My patio was looking pretty sad, honestly. Green stuff growing in the corners, dirt everywhere. Figured it was time to do something about it.

Pulled the thing out of the box. Seemed simple enough. Not too many crazy parts, which was good. Had the main gun part, the long wand bit, a few different nozzle tips, and the hose attachment stuff.

Getting it ready was the first step.

  • Hooked up my garden hose to the inlet. Made sure that was tight, didn't want water spraying everywhere but where I aimed it.
  • Plugged the power cord in. Found a good outdoor socket.
  • Snapped on one of the nozzle tips. Started with a wider spray one, didn't want to blast the paint off anything by accident right away.

Firing it Up

Turned on the water tap first. Then flipped the power switch on the machine. Heard it hum to life. Grabbed the gun handle, felt solid. Took a deep breath and squeezed the trigger.

Whoa, okay. It definitely has some kick to it! Not unmanageable, but you know it's there. Aimed it at the dirtiest part of the concrete patio slabs. The water jet hit it hard. You could see the dirt just lifting off instantly. It was actually pretty satisfying watching the grime disappear, leaving a clean streak behind.

Worked my way across the patio. Took a bit of time, going back and forth in steady lines. Kind of like mowing the lawn, but with water. Found that getting closer worked better for stubborn spots, but had to be careful not to damage the surface. The noise wasn't too bad, just the sound of the motor and the water hitting the ground.

Tried a narrower nozzle for some really tough green algae spots near the wall. That thing really concentrated the power. Blasted the green right off. Had to be more careful with that one, for sure.

The Cleanup After the Cleanup

Once the patio looked worlds better, I turned everything off. Switched off the power, then the water tap. Squeezed the trigger one last time to get the leftover pressure out of the hose. Disconnected the garden hose, let the water drain out. Wiped the gun and wand down a bit.

Packed it all back up. Didn't take too long. Stored it in the shed.

Overall, pretty straightforward experience. The high pressure gun did exactly what I hoped it would. Took a grimy patio and made it look decent again without needing hours of scrubbing. Happy with how it turned out. It's a useful tool to have around for sure. Just gotta respect the power it has.
